BrennemannElementarySchool has been neglected for years. Two years ago the Principal and Assistant Principal were abruptly removed. This past summer, Chicago Public Schools named new leadership who are committed to reviving the school. We in the community embrace this change and are committed to supporting the students and the school. In an early meeting Assistant Principal Postlewait talked about a condemned playground and their plans to turn it into a garden. CPS is scheduled to removed the rusty old playground equipment by April. Everything else involved in creating a garden will need to be sourced. Buena Park Neighbors and Brennemann School look forward to working together on the long term project of creating and maintaining a garden for the PreK – 8th grade students, and larger community. Welcome to the Bobcat Buena Area Garden! (B-BAG)
CPS has limited resources to put against the project so we will be dependent on grants, fundraising and volunteers. We are grateful to have received a generous donation from Lurvey to be used on materials needed to build the garden! Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved as this project grows from a seed of an idea to a beautiful garden.
