Uptown Public Library – Lots to Do in January.

Play Date

Get out of the house and meet up with old friends or make new ones at our open play time. We’ll put out our puzzles, puppets, blocks and more for the little ones to play with. Bring your coffee, grown-ups, and relax with other families of young children. All children must be accompanied by an adult, of course.  Saturday, February 1 from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.

Explorers’ Club

Once a month, drop in for a STEAM activity for school-age kids. Robots, slime, science experiments, engineering … it’s something new every time! For kids ages 6 to 11 on Saturday, February 1 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Kids’ Book Club

Like to read? Like to talk? Like to eat snacks? The Kids’ Book Club is for you! Kids ages 8 to 11 should pick up a copy of Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures by Kate DiCamillo at the Circulation Desk. Read it and come talk about it with other kids on Saturday, February 8 from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m.

For teachers!

Do you teach preschool, elementary or high school?  Would you like a review of the outstanding books published during 2019 for these ages?  Teachers and librarians are invited to join Chicago Public Library and Chicago Public Schools staff for a great day of introductions to the books our librarians thought were the best.  Sign up for the session on Tuesday, February 11 on Eventbrite.  Questions?  Ask Children’s Librarian Laura Jenkins.
