For all ages:
Games @ the Library
Adults, kids and families are invited to drop in and play a game together. We’ll have board games, card games, trivia games and more. Or, if you have a favorite at home you can bring it in. Bring your coffee, pop, water, hot chocolate … and we’ll provide some snacks! Kids under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Thursday, December 26 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Little Women Book Discussion
With a new movie coming out, now is the time to read — or re-read — this classic. Will you love it? Or not? Join us for an intergenerational conversation to see how this story of the March family holds up. Place a hold or stop by to pick up a copy of the book. For adults, teens and tweens. Saturday, December 28 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
For kids:
Kids’ Book Club
Like to read? Like to talk? Like to eat snacks? The Kids’ Book Club is for you! Kids ages 8 to 11 should pick up a copy of Diary of An Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal by Jeff Kinney at the Circulation Desk. Read it and come talk about it with other kids on Saturday, December 7 from 3:30 until 4:00 p.m.
Explorers’ Club
Once a month, drop in for a STEAM activity for school-age kids. Robots, slime, science experiments, engineering … it’s something new every time! For kids ages 6 to 11 on Saturday, December 14 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
Creation Station/Construction Zone
Kids can get creative at the library during the winter break. We’ll have blocks and building sets to play with and plenty of craft supplies to make something great. It’s also “DIY: Do It Yourself” Winter Learning Challenge time for school-age kids. What can you make? The sky’s the limit when you do it yourself. Just drop in during library hours between December 21 and January 4 and let your creativity flow. (We’re open 9:00 – 3:00 on December 24 and December 31.)
Kids’ New Year’s Eve Celebration!
Ring out the old year, ring in the new! Dress in your most glamorous outfit and come celebrate with a countdown to noon. Create your own beautiful, crazy, surprising, marvelous or amazing hat. Write a letter to your future self, or a New Year’s resolution. Make a noisemaker. You might even dance! Kids under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Tuesday, December 31 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Toddler Story Time
Stories, songs and rhymes for little people from about 18 to 36 months of age (with a caregiver) happen Wednesdays in December from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m., followed by a half-hour of free play time. The library is closed on December 25.
