Mission Statement
Founded in 1997, Buena Park Neighbors is a 46th Ward neighborhood association of more than 200 residents, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations in the nationally registered Buena Park Historic District. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for everyone in Buena Park.
Goals and Accomplishments
Thanks to your support, Buena Park Neighbors was able to achieve more than ever in 2010, including:
- Distributed monthly e-newsletters covering BPN activities and other noteworthy neighborhood news.
- Hosted quarterly general membership meetings featuring guest speakers including Chicago Police Department 23rd District Commander Kathleen Boehmer and Jennifer Dedes-Nowak of the Chicago Cubs.
- Supported public safety in the neighborhood by participating in the Chicago Police Department’s Community Action Policing Program (CAPS).
- Started a new program which collected donations to provide swimsuits and swim caps to children participating in after school activities at Gill Park
- Held a variety of events throughout the year, including:
- Buena Bunnies, our annual Easter Basket drive for St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, netted more than 100 baskets for underprivileged neighborhood children.
- The Clean and Green Volunteer Neighborhood Cleanup brought neighbors together to make Buena Park shine.
- Two summertime concerts in Buena Circle Park entertained hundreds of neighborhood residents.
- Buena Pumpkin Neighbors, our annual safe trick-or-treating event along Kenmore, had record participation more than 300 kids in attendance.
- The annual BPN Holiday Party brought neighbors together to toast the holiday season.
If you are interested in meeting your neighbors, and in helping to better our historic community, we welcome your membership.
